Being organised is something that I enjoy and have done ever since I was a child. As a little girl one of my favourite games was playing ‘library’ and arranging my books in size order.
All of my working life has been in organising and admin roles. I ran an art gallery in Kendal, spent ten years working as a Senior PA in The City and most recently enjoyed a
career as a slide librarian working in picture libraries as a researcher and administrator.
I launched Clearly Organised in January 2003
after I had been asked by various colleagues and friends to help them get organised in their homes and offices and I realised there was clearly a need for such a service.
I have a degree in Art and Psychology which has given me some understanding into why people can be so attached to their clutter and helps me see potential in the
unpromising when faced with an over-cluttered space.
As a matter of course I de-clutter, recycle and keep my life as Clearly
Organised as possible. I have a husband and two children and we
lead a normal family life, with all that it entails. I know how hectic
life can be for working parents and for people with demanding jobs.
I am often asked if I live a minimalist existence as I am so fanatical
about de-cluttering. Definitely not! Minimalism does not appeal to me
– we have a comfortable and welcoming family home with the usual toys
and technology. However, what we do have are great systems to help us
all stay organised and clutter-free.
I firmly believe that too much stuff can seriously drag you down and prevent you from moving forward in many areas of your life, even those which may appear
totally unconnected to your clutter.
Getting rid of clutter is a liberating and exciting process and can act
as a great catalyst for change. Once you start to de-clutter you start
to feel better. Results are immediate: feel good factor guaranteed!
