Everywhere is a mess: where do I start?

I will help you decide on the area that you feel will make the most difference to you once it's organised. Most people know instinctively which area in their home makes them feel the worst. If the area is large or the clutter extreme, we will break it down into sections and tackle one bit at a time. The important thing is to start.

What if I want to keep things?

The choice is entirely yours. I would never encourage a client to get rid of something that they really want to keep. Only you can know when you are ready to let something go. However, remember the aim of a de-cluttering session is to REDUCE stuff – not just move it around your home!I will work with you helping you to make sensible decisions about what to keep and what to throw out.

How long will it take?

Great progress can be made on a cluttered area in one day. However, if the clutter is extreme it may need a little more time. Don’t forget, it can take many months, or even years for clutter to build up so you need to allow plenty of time to get rid of it too. Be patient!

Is mine the worst place you’ve seen?

I am asked this question without fail every time I go to see a new client! My answer is always NO! Everyone has good and bad areas in their homes and every home I see is different. My role is to help you find a solution to your problem and set up a system to keep you organised in the future.

Is there a common problem that everyone has?

YES! Paper! Most homes I visit are sinking under paper. It comes into our homes on a daily basis and clogs up our lives if we don’t stay on top of it. Be strict about what you keep, and have a rule to chuck stuff out daily. I can give you lots of great tips to help you tame your paper.

How will I keep my space this organised?

It will be much easier for you to stay organised when you have less stuff. I will set up simple systems so that you have a place for everything and suggest some rules to keep you on track. You may wish to make a regular maintenance booking to help you stay clutter-free.

What about all the other rooms?

Hold on…one room at a time! Once you start de-cluttering and enjoy the burst of positive energy this brings you will probably want to move on and do all the rooms in your house! It’s wonderful to be keen but the danger is trying to do several rooms at once and simply creating more mess. I will help you stay focused and motivated – we will complete one room at a time and then plan for the next one!
